Owned it for a few weeks now.

I am in love!
Around 510km on a full tank, capable of sustained 160kph cruise (althoguh it won't get 500km to the tank then I suspect) More storage space than you can poke a stick at, impeccible road manners etc etc.

Buy a bike for dirt road touring and discover it is the best tourer you have ever owned, on dirt or tarmac!

The GS series bikes have been known to be the best of both, off road, on road bikes since they came onto the motorcycle scene , back in the early '80's.

The oilhead bikes may not have the character of the airheads, but they are great bikes, if this type appeals to you .

I got my '02 R1150R in August, 2002, best choice in bikes I've made .

I just turned 63,000 miles, 103,000 km, and nothing more than routine maintenance in just under 15 years, and daily commuting use .

I actually went looking for an R80 or R100 GS - secretly I wanted a "Bumblebee" but I have left my run too late as they have passed into "desireable collection target" territory. I could easily buy two 1100/1150 GS bikes for the same money that R80/100 GS's that are worth having are changing hands for. I paid a small premium to get the GSA and am glad I did.

The husband of the local Post mistress has a (I think) 1100RS, he has owned it from new and it has done less than 4000km as he has a bad back problem. I'd like that, but it isn't currently for sale.

This little beauty showed up as I was catching a cold one on the porch at the Texas Motorcycle Museum in Vanderpool a couple of weekends back...
My 1st experience seeing one and the couple had ridden down from Dallas. Very nice....

The PD model has the same colour scheme but adds the "industrial" chic of extra front bar work and more angular instrument binnacle/fairing.

I filled up today $1.38 per litre for 94 Octane

I'll get some indicative prices for you as I think the little gas station in our suburb charges a bit extra for the convenience factor.

Take it back, they are cheapish.

Google tells me that is $1.03 USD or £0.80 GBP
I'm currently paying £1.12 GBP or ($1.45 USD / $1.94 AUD) in the UK.

Might have to pop down to Oz for my next fill-up.

That comes out to be $5.22/Gal. Aus. or $4.18/Gal. US.....My last fill up this weekend with 93 octane was $2.25/Gal. Right now we can get 87 for $1.99/ Gal.

I'm sure that will change soon now that we have sold $100 Billion in arms to the Saudis.....

$AUD are the only ones in my wallet or bank account :-)

I don't mind the cost of fuel too much, the only vehicle we have that really drinks it is our old 4WD, it costs about  $100 to fill and that only takes it about 500km.

The GSA really only got a mention because when it fills up, it is a big gulp.
