I went to Lowes Hardware with the original mount in hand and eyeballed it. I think the originals are metric stock, and, of course, Lowes only sells SAE. No luck on finding aluminum round stock. I had to settle for steel. But I'm sure it is out there, somewhere.
I also bought a metric tap & die set. I forget the size I used, (I am at work), but I had to remove just the slightest amount of material, and taper the leading edge before the die would start. I think the SAE stock was too large for the metric die. That was my first foray into cutting threads. Exciting and hard work at the same time.
I just put the stock in the vise after it was cut to length, and slid my cheater bar over the end to bend it, duplicating the angles of the originals. I am considering changing the angle a little to lay the shield down a bit more, to see if that might quiet things down a little.
There is VERY LITTLE room on the low handlebar to place the mounts. And I had to chop up a dash panel in the process. The dash panels on the LS are quite a bit different from the std models, so YMMV.
