This bear has finally come out of hibernation!
« on: April 01, 2011, 12:04:22 AM »
Hi guys!  I finally came out of my winter doldrums.  And what a nice day it was too.

Had a nice ride with my sweety and stopped for a wonderful lunch.  He on his R100 and me on my R65.  Everything is blooming and the new spring greeen leaves on the trees is so beautiful.  The willows along the rivers are all putting out their buds.  And the air smells so good.  We rode out through some Redwoods and took some back roads.  It wasn't a long ride, about 50 miles, but it was perfect for a first ride of the season.

Spring has definitley sprung here.  Thank goodness.  I thought for sure we were going to float off the continent with all that rain.  But California is finally out of its drout.............at least for this year.   :D

I am so glad for this winter to be over.  It seemed to be a hard one for me.  I'm still not working.  My Mom is 90 this June and even though she lives by herself she is starting to need more help so I've been over there alot.   And she is so stubborn!  (I wondered where I got it.   ;) )

I think I left the last trip report in the lurch and didn't finish it.  I remember starting something and then not getting back to finish it.   :-[  Mom got sick around then and I had to go help her out (she's okay now), and then there was the Christmas Crafts Fair that I had to get ready for (I actually sold some of my stuff   :) ).  Then Christmas presents to make and Christmas to get ready for.  Then the after Christmas blahs.  Then I house sat (well, it was really to dog sit) for a friend while they went on a cruise for 2 weeks.   There was some nice weather in January and February, but no rides (it was still too cold for me - I'm a whoos) and then rain, rain, rain, rain, rain, and more rain through March.  I just hibernated through most of all that.

But now it's really spring and I'm finally coming out of my winter sleep.   Time for more rides (YAY), and more job hunting (sigh).

WELCOME BACK MELENA! [smiley=clap.gif]

I'm sorry to hear you are still unemployed, but it is good to hear the bikes are still running!  I'm really looking forward to smelling the smells of Spring myself.  It just doesn't work in a cage. ;)

And the nice thing about smells is you don't have to take your eyes off the road to enjoy them!  ::)

I was beginning to miss you, so your return to the asylum is very welcome news. Sorry to hear about your employment situation and keep my fingers crossed.

And please continue your riding reports. They are very enjoyable reading.

greetings from a warming up north

I was reminded in a phone conversation last night how good freshly plowed fields smell!  So farm country can make for good riding, too, even if it is flat and straight!

Oh yeah, welcome back Melena!  You've probably been thankful for being unemployed when your mother was sick.  Glad to head she's better and you sold some of your handiwork!  I've been a little slack in catching up here as well, but I don't have your good excuses....mine is just darned ol' facebook getting ahold of me.

Good to see that both Melena and Aïda are back on the forum!!! I "like"!!
So why is facebook so addictive and are you Aïda, convinced of it's integrity? I haven't joined yet.

Ah the smells of Spring! And the bike is just the way to experience them.
LRB started on the second push of the starter button! Great news so I guess he's a happy wee bike! Stupid EFI Bonneville started on the 1st push of his starter button! Some people's kids!
1983 R65LS - LRB still my favourite!? 1988 Honda NX250, "Toodles Too" and a Suzuki DR650, "Calypso." All stored in the "Brrrmmm Closet".

First, Melena, sorry for the highjack...

Well, I joined facebook just to keep track of my nieces and nephews.  But it has a life of its own!  I've found old friends from high school, college and cousins I haven't seen in YEARS!  (Plus some I've never met.)  Kinda like on here, I feel like I'm finally catching up and getting to know these 'friends'.

I am NOT convinced of it's integrity, but just like anywhere on the internet you have to be diligent.  I have my privacy levels locked down pretty tight and am very careful of where I go - what links I follow.  Just like anyplace on the web.

Then there's all the games...  :D

(Oh yeah, there are a few R65ers out there, too...Rob, NCSteve, SCJohn).
