Looks like today is going to be an 'interesting' day .
The governmental authority that operates Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport, announced that no aircraft will arrive, or depart after 1400 local due to high winds, that's the first time in the 17 years I've been here, that the airport is going to be closed before 'heavy' weather actually arrives .
My employer Southwest Airlines, is getting all aircraft out of Phoenix by that time, and anticipates the airport to be closed for the remainder of the day .
Only time they pull all aircraft out of a city, is when a hurricane approaches .
We just learned that one of our aircraft ran off a runway in San Diego in high winds, no one injured, but the plane got 'banged up' a bit .
