Good clean looking scooter there.  Did that begin life as an LS?  It has dual discs on the front, but not bikini fairing or the black pipes.  What year is it?  My wife and I love to ride in New Mexico.  I'm in the planning stages for our long ride in May or June.  We're going to try to take in Cloudcroft and Carlsbad this year.  Hey, she has a thing for bats. ;D

Clean bike !!!!

I'd say from the looks of it, it's an '81 model year bike, with an LS rear wheel .

'81 US model year R65's had the 'snowflake' wheels, and dual front discs .
'81 R65
'82 R65 LS
'84 R65 LS
'87 Moto Guzzi V65 Lario
'02 R1150R
Riding all year long since 1993 .
I'll give up my R65, when they pry my cold dead hands from the handlebars !!!!!

Title says 81, also says rebuilt and has some florida assigned vehicle number sticker on the frame. So most likely the miles are wrong. but I'm sure its never been surfed

I had a 1981 model ("Bruno"), and it had dual front disc brakes as well.  Great bike, too!   Only 27k miles, and the engine ran smooth as silk!

I had an 81 that was a rebuild by Perry Bushong, but it didn't have dual discs.  Quite possibly he had changed out to a single disc.  He was prepping it as a rental for Pancho Villa Tours back when he was doing Mexican tours.  Sold it though to my attorney when I got posted to Yemen for 4 years.  He kept it for a year or so then sold it to some local guy about the time I got back.  I missed getting it back by just weeks.

Nice looking bike.  Phorqs, is your attorney's last name Blair?  I almost bought one from a FTW shyster with the last name Blair a few years back...

Nice bike - given the "rebuilt" title you indicated, my bet is that it is/was a stock R65 (second front disk brake was an optional dealer accessaory also) that  may have been rear-ended or otherwise had a broken rear wheel... someone installed an LS rear wheel (and possibly donor final drive/swingarm) to get her back on the road again.   Not too likely that it was an LS as that would have required a wholesale swap of the seat, rear cowling instruments and instrument covers, along with exhaust, front wheel change to snowflake, etc.   But, if you post up the frame/engine number we can verify this.

No matter the provenance, it is a nice looking bike!

If it was Wm. Blair, Esq., then that's the guy.  He's a pretty neat guy, even considering his line of work.  He told me that he sold it to some fellow in his N. Richland Hills neighborhood.  It was a good running bike.  Do you remember what he was asking, and why did you pass?

That's the guy.  Yeah, he seems like a decent sort and I e-mailed back and forth with him for quite some time - even after I didn't buy his.  I can't remember what he had originally asked for it but looking back in e-mails he said he wound up selling it for $2200.  The main reason I passed on it was because it was black and Barbi didn't want a black bike and we bought the blue one you saw instead...

Last communication I had with him he indicated he was going to look for an old Brit bike to restore...

Not to hijack JDS's thread anymore than necessary, but the lineage of the critters is always interesting.  I just got off of the phone with my attorney Bill Blair.  He did remember Justin's interest in my old R65 and mentioned he sold it to a fellow in the neighborhood that ended up putting a sidecar on it at Perry's Motorcycles & Sidecars.  Now it's got me to wondering if that isn't the same bike that Scotty in Austin has?
