Hi all,

being the newcomer, my first post is in Restoration Progress Logs with the topic "fuel injected R65". Then I realized that the introduction mails are posted here.

I'm living in Istanbul with my 82 R65, 93 R80 GSPD, 61 & 67 R60/2 and 72 CB750 K2. My favorite in the city is the R65 and yes you heard it correct: currently I'm in the process of converting "Uber" to fuel injection  

I'll post pre-conversion photos and the progress in time.

But I've got to ask - why fuel inject it? What's to be gained?

Sure, I will inform the phases of the project. And the answer to wirespokes is to see if I will succeed   I'm not looking for extra horsepower nor increase in torque but try to see if it can be done. Also, i will NOT change/modify the originals so that it can easily be converted to carburetors.

What FI system are you using?  I'm running Megasquirt II on my 914.

Interesting project... Basic fuel injection is simple enough in itself..

You just need a handfull of sensors... I'm sure you know that...
Are you going to adapt a BMW FI system off a newer bike ?
Or, Go with a simpler aftermarket system that could be adapted to the BMW throttle bodies ?

Could be a fun thing to fool with.. But those Bings will go on forever...

Keep us posted...And get those 90's off the valve stems.. You don't want a valve stem to fail when you're riding down the road.. NO FUN..

I'm not using any BMW or other FI system. We are making our Fuel Injection system (designing and producing the electronic board and software) with trial and error method. Does this explain why I'm late on answering your questions here?  

Now it's the time to design: to locate fuel pump, connect TPS, install a heat sensor to the body and an oxygen sensor to exhaust.

And about the valve stems, yes you are right. During my last trip on April through 600 km., they continuously lost air, a real PIA.

Hi all,

I've almost reached to the end of my project. Our custom designed and made fuel injection system (and computer program) is working now. We've designed the electronics board and received the board today.

Tonight, I will start installing the components and hopefully this weekend put the electronics on the bike and start the bike.

The only left work is paint the new gas tank (there has to be a fuel exit and fuel inlet, so the petcocks have been removed and nipples added), connect the fuel lines and check for a leak.

Later on I will start testing the bike and correct faults of the software, if any.
