R65 Riders Have The Hottest Toes

Our Anthem or at least a good bumper sticker.
Riding in hot weather really gets the feet warm especially in my area where 42 C degree weather is common in summer.
Anyone have any suggestion?
I end up using the rear pegs more than I should.
One pit stop last week I almost ordered one cold one for me another for my right boot.

The correct footwear is essential in hot climates .

I've been using the BMW 'tennis shoe' type boot, no problems in the 7 years I've had them .

High top boots are probably the best way to go .

My current footwear needs to be replaced in the not too distant future, any suggestions based on our members experiences, what to and what not to purchase is always welcome .

It's 'averaged 111-114 F. (44-46 C.) this week, looks like the coming week is going to be the same .

Oh, the torture we endure to ride our classic Airheads.

I, too, tuck my boots back on the passenger pegs when the opportunity presents itself. No lasting cure for the toasty toes that I know of.

Like you, Victor, our local forecast for the next full week is 100-102 degrees F. Do as Bob Roller does in the Heart of Hades, aka Phoenix... ride at night.

I really enjoy riding at night. But those big chunks of semi truck tires and gravel spots kind of takes the fun away, not to mention the deer.
Any way I've learned to endure my medium-well done toes.

Fortunately, I have not had this problem. It's pretty much 60s-70s F year around where I live.

I'd suggest trying a winter boot. Perhaps something with extra insulation would also protect from the heat.

I'm a little late to the game here, but I don't think it helps that much.  I switch between an older pair of Sidi waterproof boots (similar to http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Sidi-B2-Goretex-Motorcycle-Race-Boots-/140751530758?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Boots&var=&hash=item6675bd096e#ht_1357wt_1141) and steel toe leather engineer boots (http://www.moccasinsales.com/double_h_2810.htm).  The steel toe boots are a little hotter, but is the difference between 130F and 120F that big?

When it's hot out, your feet are going to roast, any way you slice it.  Just remember to stop and empty your boot if you start sloshing.

We live in area of extremes don't we Matt? Good thing we mostly don't get any snow down here. I can deal with cold but not the slush.
Four of us rode to Rocksprings from Eagle Pass returning through Leakey 3 Sundays ago. We ended up riding in record high temperatures. It was insanely hot. Had a fun ride but had to stop for the sun to go down in Uvalde. Rear peg riding most of the way. Hill country is beautiful with excellent roads, even better watering holes.

Ain't no better place to cool your jets amongst other friendly canyon carvers. The Three Twisted Sisters, Ranch Roads 335, 336 and 337, are a top ride in the Texas Hill Country and Leakey -pronounced Lake-E- is at the crossroads.

I'll be back there in the Fall. It hit 116 degrees F coming outta Hunt, Texas, on my way back to Kerrville last time.

The Three Twisted Sisters, Ranch Roads 335, 336 and 337, are a top ride in the Texas Hill Country and Leakey -pronounced Lake-E- is at the crossroads.

Ranch Road 674 Is their twisted cousin. Its a good ride from Leakey going thru Camp wood then north to Rocksprings to get to it. But is a great ride complete with cattle guards as parts of the road is fenceless. Your choice of riding mostly uphill from Bracketville to Rocksprings or a little more easier on the engine the other way around going downhill. Either way is neat.
Monte you are right about the pronunciation of Leakey. I had the unfortunate opportunity of learning the correct way by a friendly ambulance technician after she attended a fellow rider. A whole other story with a good ending.  But a great place to stay in Leakey is the http://www.droseinn.com/ a motorcycle oasis in the middle of the Texas hill country.

Home to Happy Shahan's mondo tourist trap Alamo Village -constructed for The Duke -John Wayne- and his 1959 film, The Alamo. There's quite a history of movie and TV production in the area, including: Barbarosa with Willie Nelson, Duvall and Jones in Lonesome Dove along with the exquisite Raquel Welch and tipsy Dean Martin in Bandolero. 200+ movie and TV productions at last count.

Did I mention it's an honest-to-goodness tourist trap? Ten bucks a head. Cash only. No shows, stores or eateries. Not sure if there's even water on the grounds. Use the horse trough for a dollar. [smiley=thumbdown.gif]
