Ah, yes. Brackettville, Texas.
Home to Happy Shahan's mondo tourist trap
Alamo Village -constructed for
The Duke -John Wayne- and his 1959 film,
The Alamo. There's quite a history of movie and TV production in the area, including:
Barbarosa with Willie Nelson, Duvall and Jones in
Lonesome Dove along with the exquisite Raquel Welch and tipsy Dean Martin in
Bandolero. 200+ movie and TV productions at last count.
Did I mention it's an honest-to-goodness tourist trap? Ten bucks a head. Cash only. No shows, stores or eateries. Not sure if there's even water on the grounds. Use the horse trough for a dollar. [smiley=thumbdown.gif]
Once made the l-o-n-g drive from Dallas as a young Boy Scout. That was enough.
