A new memeber from Japan

Hellow members, I'm a new Japanese member and am now struggling with R65LS-1983 which was obtained in the last September. The bike was parked just beside the road for long time due to some reasons which the previous owner gave up to fix.  One of the serious problems is holes of the tank which I am trying to fix for more than three months and not completed yet.
I hope the bike can be revived this summer.

I may be mistaken -and I frequently am -or so says my wife- but you may be our first R65.org member from Japan.

Lots of R65LS riders here. You'll find answers to most all your questions.

Regarding your fuel tank, I guess the holes are from rust. If so, the tank may have more areas that will soon begin to leak even after the current holes are brazed shut. Post a request for an R65LS tank in the "Trading Post" section and see what happens.

Sounds like your fuel tank may be quite a challenge to get repaired .

Don't hesitate to ask questions about your 'new' bike, there's a lot of experience here on this model of BMW bike .

Thanks every one, about the tank repairing, it is surely due to rusting and they are not coming out one time unfortunately. After repairing one hole, another hole came out the next week as a result of chemical rust remover activity, and this is the reason of taking more than three months. I have closed one needle hole two weeks ago and hopefully this would be the last.

After confirming no more leaking, I will apply tank sealer as final parmanent coat. Ordering another tank would be the last option which may request repainting of all.

50's Honda Dream was long long time ago and I just know their name only.sorry

It is wonderful to have a forum member from Japan!  I know you will solve the tank problem and move on to other things that need fixing.  Any question you have you can get answered here.  Any problem you have, someone on the forum has had and fixed and will be glad to share he solution with you.

Please post a picture of your bike when you can.  I would also love to  see a picture or two of motorcycling in Japan.

The bike of the photo may be Honda Dream 50 issued in 1997 or so as a replca of famous CR110(1962); sorry I'm not good in Honda and sorry if I'm wrong. YF

Hi and welcome, there is a product available ex USA that people use to line the tanks, try the BMWMOA website to find it. Or one of the USArians here might be able to help.

Just make sure there is enough metal in the bottom to make it worth while.  Have you pushed on it with your thumb?

I have purchased a few things from this seller over the past 12 months and have been very satisfied.   Depending on how badly your tank is rusted, it may be more cost effective to find an intact tank to replace it.
