Nothing that's not already on the web I'm afraid.  I definitely have my eye on it!  I don't think we'll see them until March 2007.  :(
Personally I'm partial to the S model.

I am fortunate that I am too poor to ever consider such a thing.

My guardian angels were certainly looking out for me the day I was picking out my bike that fateful day in Cycle Werks of Indianapolis.  April 1, 1980, if memory serves correctly.  The store manager, Joe, was asking if I might consider a used S bike that was on the floor.  I don't remember what was on it, I knew I wanted new, (I would be learning to be a mechanic on this bike), and being a not large person, I could be happy with a 650.  And it was cheaper, and I didn't know enough about post '70 BMW's that I was offended by it's radically sleek lines.  And I HAD to have the optional Euro bars!!!
[smiley=vrolijk_26.gif]
I would have to have two bikes if I had anything chain or belt drive, because I really like the relative seamlessness of the shaft.

I am so happy to have what I have.  I consider it to be a great privilege.  Maybe because I was foolish enough to sell it, once; and had the 2nd blessing of being able to buy it back for the same money, 6 months later, little worse for wear.

And if I ever do have a second bike, it will have a sidecar attached  [smiley=evil.gif]

Can you say /2?

Thanks for the info, Aida. I haven't been keeping up lately with what's "hot & new", and from looking at Carolina BMW's website thought the F800s were already out. :-?
You folks at Capital wouldn't have any slick 'n' shiny brochures to send out yet, would you?

And Rob: You've got an original owner '79 R65?
Pretty impressive!! :o

NC Steve, We just might have some brochures.  I know we've gotten some great looking posters in.  I'll check next time I'm in the store.  (next week.)

Checked for F800 slick 'n' shiny brochures  :(  No luck.  We have one with the full line that includes the F800, but not much info on it.  I think most of it is posted on the BMW website.  I'll let you know when we get some.  Don't hold your breath!  BMW is notorious for being late with their ad info to the dealers.

I don't know how it is for you, Aïda, but back in '89/'90 when I worked at a small dealership as parts guy, I was able to order all kinds of neat stuff, gratis!  Got some nice posters, a bunch of 2 different postcards, and the usual shiny brochures.  Check out the back pages of the price book, if it is the same distributor, and if you are allowed near it.  (big secrets in there!  shh!)

Thanks, Aida, and please keep me posted.
If these 800s are as nice in person as they appear on paper, I'd be sorely tempted to buy my 1st ever new motorcycle next summer!

The 800S and ST have had there own forum and website for a long time now as the Europeans got the bikes first. Google BMW 800S and have fun. I was seriously going to look at the ST but the F650GS was a lot cheaper and was here!
1983 R65LS - LRB still my favourite!? 1988 Honda NX250, "Toodles Too" and a Suzuki DR650, "Calypso." All stored in the "Brrrmmm Closet".

Yes Rob, I know all about the  'freebies' that used to come from BMW.  But alas, no more.  The dealership even has to pay for our own brochures now!  They are really tightening the purse strings these days.  :(  I do plan on getting my hands on one of the posters when they come down off the walls at the dealership...  :-X

I checked out the F800 website once.  There seems to be alot of them on the road overseas.  Makes it even harder to wait on here...

It's not in my budget, but definitely on my wishlist.

Checked out the new 800s at the Cycle world show a couple of weeks ago and can't wait to take one for a test ride.

Oooooo  :P  That means they should be at the cycle show in Atlanta in January!?!  Then there's always Daytona in March...
Maybe we'll have one at the store by then.

So do they look good in person? Which models did they have? Any pics?

No pics but they had both models and a cut away display of the new engine. I got to sit on one and it felt very light and nimble much like my R65.
