I am glad I found this site. Got an '82 R65LS. Only 4000 miles. I have gotten help with rebuilding the two carburetters and a few other small hints. Is there any one in the Houston area?

Welcome Sspandra!  With such low mileage, you have to show us a photo of your bike!  Glad you found us :)

Hi Sspandra!  Welcome.

Glad to have you on the forum.  It's a really good group of people here.  And everyone is so helpful.  There are getting to be quite a few with the R65LS here.   Don't be afraid to ask any question.  Anything you might ask will be useful to many others here.  Plus it gives some a chance to talk about things they've learned.   ;D

Only 4,000 miles on an '82?  Wow.   As Rob said, we'd love to see pictures.

Welcome, and do post pics.  It'll be very nice to have shots of a low mileage '82 LS when it comes time to put mine back together!

There are several of us in TX.  Lowen and I are in the DFW area but I'm not sure where the others are located.  Maybe start a thread with something like that in the subject line?

Hear is a photo. It has a Shoui trunk and a Paribelum windshield. I don't like the windshield to much, while riding it sets just a few inches from my face.It is also holding down the black top of the faring.

I am jealous of those bright white wheels - am considering what it will cost to get mine powder coated this winter,
or what my "do-it-yourself" options might be...  My wheels look worse than Justin's. :-[

Looks like Sspandra has an Avon Roadrunner on the front.  I like those, tho I've switched to Spitfires for my R65 (less $$$$$$$$$$).

Yeah, you don't want the windshield whacking you in the face every time you brake hard.  That sure is a pretty bike though.

Say Rob, do you think you and I should clean ours up so we can have pretty bikes too?    ;D  It would take more than a bath for mine.

...well, I did put the new roundels on.  Of course I did one side wrong (I forgot about the tape trick) so I'll probably buy another and do it again.  The other side looks nice.

I have an R65LS and live in the Houston area. Richmond, to be precise. I also have a Parabellum windshield, (the exact same one you have), and absolutely love it. If you bump into it, you can have it cut to any height you want. If you don't know a good place to do it in the area, Parabellum will do it.

Thats a nice LS. I wish the previous owner of my LS had doen that instead of discarding the fairing and replacing that and the dash with a bikini fairing.

Quesition: Were the wheels on the silver LS also white? if so, mine is not a very happy LS.

No, the Polaris silver bike got the silver wheels. Early henna red LS's got white wheels but if I remember correctly, the white wheels showed "cosmetic crack lines" where the spokes met the rim. BMW put out a white tape to conceal the crack line. Then I think LS buyers had a choice..white or silver. My 82 had white wheels and the 83 came with silver wheels which I replaced with white wheels. I consider the white wheels to be very impt. to the stunning looks of the LS..contrast of henna red with white! Flashy.

Sspandra..do you know if your new LS has been repainted?? It is surely beautiful!!!
1983 R65LS - LRB still my favourite!? 1988 Honda NX250, "Toodles Too" and a Suzuki DR650, "Calypso." All stored in the "Brrrmmm Closet".

It almost has to be, doesn't it, Sue?  Didn't the LS bikes all have matte black below the lower "body line" on the tank?  Don't matter to me, still looks good and my motto is to paint it like you like it!
