You are correct, Justin.

My (admittedly fading and scratched) original paint R65Ls has the black line along the
lower contour of the tank, just like yours.  

that shiny paint does look nice, though !

Yes the bike was dropped off of a trailer in the late 80's and had some paint work done to it.  Then I dropped it in a ditch at 40mph and it now has some new scratches on the left side. The wheels were, I think recalled and replaced with a new style white. I will try to find the recall notice.
