Painting replacement battery cover
« on: March 07, 2017, 04:17:59 PM »
Just received a replacement battery cover for my '83 r65 LS from Motobins in the UK. It is not an original BMW piece, but a copy (Their part number 98201A).

Have also got the appropriate spray paint (Polaris silver) but want to know if there is anything needed to be done to the panel before spraying. I was told it is primed, but I could "Flat off" the surface and reprime before painting.

Is it worth the trouble to do this? The color of the piece is black so I know I may need to cover it more than once.

Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Wash it good, wet-sand it with 400 grit, and squirt it!
