My sentiments exactly Monte.
Sadly the Airhead is a dying breed and the various clubs and forums that support them (including this one I am sorry to say) have see their peak and are now in the (hopefully) long process of tapering off.
Increasingly Airhead ownership is a "badge" pointing to a certain quaint eccentricity (and long may that be the case in the face of a uniform field of grey conformity that besets modern motorcycles).
I lapsed most of my forum memberships some years ago and allowed my State based club membership to lapse decades ago (the only things I got for the membership were a badge to put on the bike and the opportunity to wait endlessly in the queue for access to the small cache of special tools owned by the club.
Once I had sufficient special tools to see me through anything I wanted to tackle there simply wasn't a reason to belong anymore.
May I relate a recent story from my time in the Airheads Facebook list (my last attempt to sign up for anything new in relation to online airhead forums).
I related my fumbling attempts to diagnose a noise I could not "pick" and the resultant detaching of the ring gear from my clutch carrier.
Pompous asshat No.1 proceeded to tell me that R65s are well known for shedding ring gears. I led him on gently for a while and then pointed out that since 1981 all airheads have an identical clutch carrier. He disappeared.
Pompous asshat No.2 proceeded to tell me I was a fool to continue riding the machine, but could tell me how he would have ultimately diagnosed the fault without doing a bulk engine strip and eyeballing every potential noise maker. This one was particularly affronted by my assertion that the absence of oil on my boots, the maintaining of full oil pressure and no ALT light was grounds to keep goign and "see what happens".
Finally someone with knowledge actually answered my question about gearbox input shaft length changes in 1981 which meant that I needed to buy a new clutch carrier and could not use the old 1979/80 R65 flywheel I have in stock.
Mercifully this group is 100% free of that kind of nonsense.
On a related topic - I removed the rear subframe, battery box and swing arm last night, in the process being very glad of the uber-expensive Stahlwillie 10mm ring spanner I bought more than 30 years ago for the express purpose of removing drive shaft flange bolts. I even have an adaptor that fits in the 12mm opposite end so I can use a torque wrench to do them up (but I've never bothered - 1/8th of a turn after the bolt seats is more than sufficient torque in my opinion - based on never having broken one, or had one back out on me........
