My right rear turn light housing is loose as you described. I have been taking it apart and squeezing the slot more closed but this never really works. The metal clamp pulls the housing snug against the bracket-pipe using two plastic supports inside the housing that push against the pipe. One support can slip off of the end of the bracket (pipe) if the slot isn't long enough. To extend the slot I got out my dremel tool with a diamond cutting wheel (Harbor tools) and made two horizontal cuts. I used a flat screwdriver shoved in the pipe to protect the wires. Then turned the dremel horizontal to cut a vertical line. I broke the tab with pliers and cleaned it up with with a file. The housing slides on further and does not wobble as much. You may want to remove the bracket and measure but I didn't. Sorry for not having pics, I need to find my camera.

Well actually, without being pedantic, the distance between Fremantle, Western Australia and Falls City, Oregon is precisely 9190 miles, or 14789 Km, so I can afford to be brave. Though if you find yourself over this way we can discuss it over a local brew!!

BTW, love the Miller ads, never tried the beer!

Bill......................;-)

Well, clear glass bottle and light, yeah.  But it does come in cans, which for all the scorn purists may yet heap upon them, do prevent light from damaging the flavor.

I was going to let the thread die because I was so humbled by Bill's correction of my geography.  Besides, I doubt I could ever stare down a guy with a glass BMW emblem adorned eye.   ;D  I'd be buying lots of rounds.
