Neutral switch leak

Has anyone tried using Hi-temp silicone seal on this?  Or is the gear oil under pressure and just blows through?

The oil leak is through the switch itself, not around the threads .

The oil isn't under any pressure, there is a vent for the transmission, it's through the small hole drilled through the negative battery cable bolt at the speedometer drive cable area .

The plastic internal body of the switch is generally the part that cracks and develops a leak.  There is an all-metal alternative, but I don't recall the brand at the moment.  If there is a leak on the thread area, it would indicate that a new crush washer is needed-

Check Motobins for their R65 repop neutral switch. It's Italian made and mostly brass. Installed one on my '81 R65.

A more economical price than BMW OEM, no dribbles for years now and Royal Air Mail to Texas was less pricey than buying "local".
