swing arm bearing lube

How do I know when I have enough grease in the swing arm bearings?  The book (Haynes) says grease it until the old grease is expelled and new grease is visible.  Where will I be able to see it?

From  a parts site, looks the same as the twin shock bikes, minus the large washer over the bearing .

It must have been in need of grease.  I've put a lot in there and still see no new grease.  I'll put in some more.  Thanks.
