oil pressure sending unit

Any one have a list of part numbers for parts they used other than OEM BMW parts.  

Like a napa part number for the oil pressure switch?? :-/

May be a good idea to take your old OP switch with you and compare threads. Some similar-looking sender switches for germanic vehicles have different threads. Safer than an oops and bodged engine case threads.

There is an oil pressure sender in the attached Word document which is a list of subsitute parts shamelessly copied from this web site http://www.ibmwr.org/otech/partsubs.shtml.

I just filtered out the parts not relevant to our bikes.

His basic concern (although minor) is the BMW switch activates <8 psi and many aftermarket switches activate in the 25 psi (or more) range. Extremely hot oil and/or heavy braking could cause the aftermarket oil switch to activate under normal operating conditions - thus causing needless concern.  According to him ~15 psi would not be considered abnormal in certain conditions.  Food for thought.... ymmv

Snowbum also points out that the OEM switch is only around $10 ($10.65 at Hucky's).
For that price, I can see NO reason NOT to use OEM.

I have bought one Borg Warner OP switch (for mid 80s BMW car) and it was almost $2 more than  the Chicago BMW price for stock unit...

It would have been more from the local dealer but cheaper from Chi. BMW.  The up-side was that I had it immediately...
