VA Steve,

If it turns out the cowl is something you DO NOT need, let me know.  I am collecting pieces to put a later model seat on my '79.

The BMW name for the 'teal' was azure blue (commonly refered to as turquoise), paint code 158. Only available in the US for the '81 model year. It also happens to be the color of my '81 R65, a rather unique color. I've only seen one other R65 this color, and that was in Sandy Eggo in October '87.

Riding all year long since 1993 .
I'll give up my R65, when they pry my cold dead hands from the handlebars !!!!!

PS: Va Steve, if you have a seat cowl coming in teal and it's from an '81 or later, keep in mind that it's gonna fit differently from the '79-'80 cowls, if at all. The seats and cowls both changed beginning with the '81 models.

Uhh, didn't realize that.  If it doesn't fit, it looks like Bob needs one.

A complete seat will fit just fine but you'll need to get the later model storage compartment that fits under the cowl or it'll probably look kinda strange/incomplete...  But, just the cowl won't bolt up to an 79-80 seat as the "angle" on the back of the seat is much steeper on the older seat pans.

I doubt the later storage box would fit under the rear portion of the early seat, when closed, also.

I'm kinda partial to reds.  I painted my RT in DuPont Hot Hues Crimson Splash a couple years ago:

It's kinda dark but when the sun gets on it the metallic really comes to life!  ;D
