If you are just draining and refilling the forks, 190 ml of oil is required per fork leg, if you disassembled the forks, for a seal change, bump it up to 220 ml .

The standard fork oil for the R65, is 7.5 wt, only available from a BMW dealer, or repair shop, haven't seen it anywhere else .

If you can't source it locally, 10 wt oil will work as well .

Also if you can't get 7.5 wt it's perfectly OK to blend 5 wt with 10 wt but you must to stick to the same brand for consistent results.

A way of checking for the correct amount of oil is to use something like welding rod as a dipstick. With the forks fully extended your dipstick can be lowered through the filling hole and should measure a level of 35mm + or - 15mm
