If the shift lever is in the way, you need to loosen up, or remove the bolt about three inches behind the left foot rest.After you get that loose, you can move it out of the way, you can then remove the shift lever from the transmission .
Mark, I think what Bob is saying (in a roundabout way) is to remove the L/H footpeg as the lever pivot bolt actually screws into the peg assembly!TongueDepending on the year the shifter had either a little needle-bearing assembly or a bronze bushing.I've seen both...
