I am not a winter ryder shame on me!! :P) While riding today  I noticed my directional lights are not flashing, they stay on like a nice orange flash light! Must be a switch somewhere...can anybody shed some light on this problem please?

Did you do that on purpose? Sounds like the flashing relay to me. But I've been wrong before.

Nothing on purpose, just got on the bike an took off, noticed the problem on the first bend....flashing relay would make sense. Where in the bike can I find it? thanks

Give the flasher and connections a look under the fuel tank.

What year is your bike?  MrRiden's photo is for the '81-'84 models.

Always a good idea to mention the year/model of the bike & where it's located.

Thanks for the picture Mr. Riden! Not-so-fast-ed is right I should put the year first! Its a 1979 R65 and I live in London, UK. Thanks

That helps a great deal, Eric.  Rob also has a '79 and as I understand it, the '79 evolved quite a bit over the years.

Let's encourage our members to add at least year and model to their profile signature to improve our communication.  Their location would also help put them together with other members in their area.

Don't overlook the OEM fuse box. Those cheezy euro-style fuses have been the problem for many of us. Don't know if they could possibly keep the sigs lit up continuously but... Check them out for corrosion and buff the fuse ends and their holders with a touch of 400 grit.   Monte

On the '78-'80 models, the turn signal flasher is behind the right side cover, next to the fuses.

(everybody loves a picture!)

yep agree with the above, the fuse box pod isnt air or water tight so i would suspect damp on the contacts of the relay as the first port of call.

failing that, check the block connections under the tank, i had problems with those connections before I took mine of the road.
