Fork Gaiters

I'm getting ready to replace the weeping fork seals (and felts) on my '82 and I'd like to put on a pair of rubber accordian fork gaiters while I've got everything pulled apart.  Trouble is I don't know where to find them.  I'm getting the seals and felts from Chicago, and I tried to get the gaiters there, but they're not on the standard parts fiche and without a part number, Javier couldn't help me.

Anyone know a source for fork gaiters?  What additional hardware is needed to install them?  Is there anything I should know that I don't know enough to ask about?  (That is about fork gaiters!)

I have at least a couple of weeks to round them up before my parts come from Chicago.  (Hopefully only a couple of weeks.)  Thanks to all for any insight or other help.

John

Try this thread to see if it answers your question: http://suraklyn.com/yabb/YaBB.pl?num=1178320857/1#1

If you are using gaiters, you will not need the felts.  They are for the inside of the slider caps, and those are not used with the gaiters.

I bought them for my '79 at Capital Cycle for 11.25 each.  They're called fork boot-accordion type.

Hey !  That reminds me - I WAS going to buy some of those for Tillie from that old thread and I completely forgot about it !
She may not look quite as sexy with boots on, but I'm sure her fork legs will last longer.
this (along with re-foaming and recovering the seat, and possibly sending her parts off to get painted) will make for a good winter project.

You will probably pick them up from Motobins in the UK - 1st and or 2nd hand.

There are two types - specify for r65 - they seem to be slimmer and more pleasing to the eye.

I have a pair on my Cafe Racer - go to protect my investment - I replaced the stantions!

Cheers
