Senate EPW committee to hold oversight hearing on the future of E15
Please Take Action Today!
The American Motorcyclist Association urges you to tune in to a live webcast of the U.S. Senate Environment and Public Works Committee tomorrow, Wednesday, Dec. 11, 9 a.m., discussing the future of domestic renewable fuels.
The webcast may be viewed by visiting the EPW’s website and clicking on the link to the live webcast.

http://www.epw.senate.gov/public/index.cfm?FuseAction=Hearings.Hearing&Hearing_ID=c30fd6c6-c92b-013d-741d-ebbeefd81e87

The EPW Committee exercises oversight over the Renewable Fuel Standard, part of the Energy Policy Act of 2005, which sets the minimum requirements for the number of gallons of ethanol that must be blended in the nation’s fuel supply.

In recent years the RFS has required increasingly larger amounts of ethanol to be included in the fuel supply. This has led to the increased use of E15, a mixture of fuel that is potentially harmful to motorcycle and all-terrain vehicles engines, as well as small powered-equipment engines.

On Nov. 29, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency proposed a rule that would modify the blending requirement for 2014. This would slow the introduction of E15 into the retail marketplace.

Send your senators a letter today asking them to support the EPA’s decision to recognize market realities and slow the release of E15, a potentially dangerous fuel that has yet to be proven safe for any of the 22 million motorcycles and ATVs currently in operation. You can send a prewritten message by clicking the “Take Action” button above.

Just saw this article this morning, it's more about investing in companies, but the first 3 paragraphs at least to me, seem to point to not in creasing the ethanol content of auto fuel to 15 % .

They really want to keep those agri-business subsidies going up and up, no matter what actual repercussions to the ecology, food market, or the public's vehicles that are more than 5 years old are..

In certain rural parts of Virginia within 100 miles of our current home, there are service stations that are permitted to sell non-ethanol petrol, purportedly for "agricultural" purposes. Seems that we had a similar scenario (in reverse) with alcohol in the States from 1920 until 1933.

I'm with Bob, alcohol belongs in beer (all hail the ale - to quote a popular character over here) and most definitely not fuel!

There are several station near me that sell non-ethanol gasoline marked as marine fuel for all the offshore fishermen. It is significantly more expensive than the ethanol laced version but the R65 doesn't take much so I try and at least top up my tank whenever I go buy. I figure anything I can do to lower the ethanol content helps.

There are a lot of stations selling straight gasoline and I can travel most places and still be near one.  http://pure-gas.org/
Keep your bike in good repair: motorcycle boots are not comfortable for walking.
