Not only is it incredibly ignorant and disrespectful, it is breaking federal law to fraudulently wear an official military service uniform and/or official military decorations, punishable by up to 1 year of jail time.
Then they shouldn't be donated to Goodwill, I guess. Where else can I buy quality, made in the USA BDU pants for a few bucks a pair? I don't mind if they have somebody else's name on the back pocket.
Wearing a used pair of BDU/ACU pants from Goodwill is far different than wearing a full dress Marine uniform, complete with service decorations, while clerking at a store. Even doing
that is a regs violation for actual service members. Way different. I still have my dress "Blue Suit" bagged in my closet along with several pair of BDUs that still see some time in the woods or shop, but I know the difference between proper and improper wear of the uniform.
And as a side note, you'd be surprised at the number of active duty Soldiers that buy previously owned uniform replacements at surplus stores. The Army basic annual clothing allowance does not go very far for an Enlisted.
This Old Navy clerk kid idiot has created a nationwide public relations nightmare for his employer. Generations of men and women have died wearing the uniform of their Service. The punk clerk disrespects their sacrifices and those that still serve.
