When installing new carb o rings, do people put them on dry, or with some sort of grease?

I would lightly lubricate them.  I have used silicone based oils/greases, motor oil, etc.

+1 on the lube.  I used vaseline when I rebuilt carbs on Chica-tita last June.

Lube is particularly helpful when rolling the "O" rings over the head/threads of idle needle and needle jet holder, etc.  Helps them slide into place with less chance of catching or tearing during installation.   After the rings are in the proper space, wipe off any excess lube.

Works for me.
