Finally, Vacation !!!!!
« on: October 13, 2012, 06:13:30 PM »
As of 1430 local time, (2230Z) today, I'm on vacation for six weeks .

Beer supplies in the US are going to be seriously depleted !!!!!

Lots 'o time to work on the bikes and the weather has co-operated, it was 56 F (13C) this morning at 0500 .

Had to wear the leather jacket for the ride to work, haven't worn it since the first week of April .

Ho. I'm off too. I'll be riding over to the pork shop this week. Hows your supply of Bratwurst?

Thanks Rich, but I had my cholesterol and triglycerides checked about 2 months ago and I am on a restricted diet now .

My doctor said my triglycerides were the highest he had ever seen, I guess it is supposed to be in the 50-100 range, mine were 2700 .

Yikes, Bob - I guess that is a high number!  I hope that you are able to manage it with simple dietary changes - sometimes it seems that one's genes conspire against you no matter what you do.

I think that our high temperature for today will be 56!

Enjoy your vacation - ride all that you can

6 weeks?  Wow.  I get 5 weeks a year but I can rarely take off more than a week at a time.  They don't have anybody to take my place.

Have fun!

I'm just back from a weeks holiday in Malta. After enjoying temperatures of 28 or 29 Deg C every day I flew back into the UK this afternoon and it was 8 Deg C.   Brrr...

My work schedule doesn't leave me a lot of free time and when I do get a bit of down time, it's 105-110 here !!!

It's one of my projects this vacation, first is to get the rust cleaned out of the tank .

Well, today is my last day of vacation .

Didn't get  much riding in, but I did get a lot more accomplished on the bikes than I though I would .

Putting the POR15 liner in the Guzzi tank next week, have to leave it sit for about 2 weeks, then I can reinstall it, put fuel in it and see  if the engine runs or not, the previous owner said that when he parked the bike the engine ran fine, well see .

I'm looking forward to getting back to work again !!!!! :D :D :D :D :D

At least at this point in time, I don't think I could retire (willingly), I need some sort of 'structure' in my life .

Being Bachelor Bob, I'll share with you that that is what wives are for. Left to my own devices, I'm positive I'd be in trouble more often than not. Just ask Bengt Phorqs. However, SWWBO does accept my penchant for buying the occasional motorcycle.

Bob, I've not used the POR 15 on a bike tank before but have on a Karmann Ghia tank.  Instructions on that were to pour it in, swill it around well, then pour the excess out.  Interesting that you are leaving it in place for two weeks.  Is that part of the instruction?

As for retirement, part of me can't wait to pull the trigger on that, but I've been working for over 50 years and the idea of not having the "structure" you mention seems daunting to me as well.  Being off from work for seven weeks with the knee rehab sure had me bored, but of course I couldn't drive, ride, or do a whole lot of activity. Think I'll give it a try sooner than later.

The two weeks, is a curing time, the instructions say 5-7 days after application, you can put fuel into the tank .

The last time I lined a tank with POR15, the sealant was only in the tank for at best 5 minutes, of sloshing it around to get the interior entirely covered .

I just give it another week , to be on the safe side .
