Bringing weapons and ammunition into Mexico can get you tossed into a cell and held under Mexico's archaic Napoleonic legal system; simply put, guilty until proven innocent.

On 17 April, a Texas truck driver was busted on the wrong side of the Rio Grande in Juarez and snagged with 268,000 rounds of HP rifle ammo. Claims he made a wrong turn on his way to an El Paso TX medical supply warehouse. Sure he was. . .
   He remains in a max security prison in Veracruz, 200 miles east of Mexico City. As yet, not charged but being held incommunicado.

Of course, there are exceptions [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

The State of Guerrero has been a personal destination a few times. I have never had problems drinking the agua in Acapulco, Ixtapa or Zihuatanejo. Or for that matter, in nearby Puerto Vallarta or Guadalajara, State of Jalisco . At least I don't recall the water causing a gastrointestinal concern when properly blended with some of the local liqueurs.

Why does one need to pack heat into Mexico, isn't it hot enough as it is? Someone needs to pack some cool down there... lots of cool. Any suggestions [smiley=beatnik.gif] D2

BB is involved in undercover 'police' work in Indonesia, 'work' usually involves apprehension of, and or 'elimination' of 'suspects' .

'Packing heat' is a slang term for carrying firearms on your person .

Living in close proximity to the Mexican border, a lot of residents of southern/central Aridzona, 'pack heat' all the time, myself included .

You can open or conceal carry a firearm on your person legally in Aridzona, as long as you're not a convicted felon, or such, only restrictions are , schools, banks (duh), and governmental buildings .

I know, I was trying to be metaphorical, in that the crime, drugs and human trafficking and the apparent legions of willing murderers is terrible. I wish Bali well and want him to return home safely. Last time I was out in Tucson visiting my sister, a well know rancher was shot to death on his property. Maine has similar firearm carry laws. I like to have the security of some heat close at hand. D2
