Many of the "Desert Rats" train at Catterick and are often seen in Richmond or Darlington, they are always smartly turned out polite and a credit to their Country. The recent arguments about pensions and immigration rights for the Gurkhas were a National disgrace thankfully the Government were shamed into doing the right thing for these brave young men mostly by the efforts of Joanna Lumly.
There is a "Black Rat" charity bike event next month which i hope to take part in, it runs from Squires to Catterick Garrison (about 50 miles) should be a good day out.

Tony, We could use a few nuggets here in Texas to warn off snakes and other 2-legged varmits. [smiley=argue.gif]

Good to hear from you. My late father was in the Army Air Corp flying in the CBI theatre. He always said that, "Nobody and I mean NOBODY messed with the Gurkas." The Japanese were terrified of them. The Allies were extremely cautious not to tick 'em off.

Dare say pronunciation would be a problem but they understand sign language , i recall the artillery units attacking the Argies near Port Stanley there was a BBC camera crew filming a Gurkha unit when the surrender came through, they looked mightily P*ssed off as they wanted to keep going.

Lou, the CO in that clip says (in Gurkhali) that he agrees that the surrender is bad news for his soldiers!
