Which do you prefer?

Scooping cat litter or taking your dog out for a walk everyday?

;^)

If you are lucky your coprophagiac canine will do half the work for you.

Well in my many years I have had nine dogs and one cat. All hounds or Labs. Have two Bassets from the rescue right now.  One cat was enough. I will say this...cats do have their uses. They give dogs something to play with. I had one dog that made it to 16 years...the damn cat made it to 21.

Dogs: Unlimited devotion, they always eat what you give them, always pleased to see you.
Ever hear of a watch cat?

And, according to the Lewis and Clark journals, dogs are really good eating if times get hard.

I like dogs, but you have to do their thinking for them - sit down, come here, go over there, shut up. They are for control freaks. Cats do their own thinking and have a life of their own.  I don't like telling people what to do, I think they should be able to sort it out themselves....if I owned a dog I'd be forever waiting for it to figure out life for itself.

I have two cats, they came to live with me by their own free will...they are friendly, and so they can stay.

Not in the same sense as a watch dog but my cats are a very effective early warning system. I have a long gravel road to where I live. When I come home both cats are waiting at the door. If I am home and anyone walks up or drives up the road, I don't care if the cats are sound asleep, they hear things I don't and alert on the door to the sound of someone coming up the drive, day or night, without fail.
Keep your bike in good repair: motorcycle boots are not comfortable for walking.

This thread is too funny!

Have you ever seen a cat riding in a sidecar?  Enough said.
No, but I've seen them riding in a tankbag.  A black cat in a black tankbag on a black BMW.   8-)

I took him to the local animal shelter to let him decide. A little grey kitten ran over, climbed up his pant leg, nestled in his arms and started to purr. He was hooked and found his match.
How great is that!  ;D Our 2nd cat (we're now up to 3) was abandoned at a store up in Meadows of Dan, VA.  There is a deli in the back and this little kitty was trying very hard to make it inside, without much luck.  He crawled up my leg, curled up in my lap and feel asleep.  Needless to say, he came home with us.  All three of our cats chose us.  The other 2 showed up on our back deck ( a few years apart).  I love being able to go on trips knowing they can take care of themselves ~ as long as I leave enough food out.

Hope your son has fun with his new companion!

Yes, our Nebelung, a variant of the Russian Blue, is VERY territorial, growls at the UPS guy, and anyone else she doesn't know.

Rastus the cat and his owner Max Corkill

I met Rastus, he was one cool cat - we did the head butt thing. Unfortunately he was killed in a motorcycle accident.
