Cause for Concern
« on: March 16, 2011, 12:00:57 PM »
In the wake of the Japanese earthquake and subsequent nuclear disaster i would urge anyone remotely in the path of this cloud (now heading into the pacific) to stock up and take iodine tablets before they sell out.Don't buy into the its not a threat bull coming from politicians.
I speak from bitter experience in the wake of Chernobyl.
Thyroid cancer was more or less unheard of on the UK before this event which brought the cloud our way now we have thousands of cases including me and i have suffered subsequent "rare" cancers that i blame directly on this event 2000 miles away.
We had no warning no advice from the government until it was discovered that most of the Lambs and Sheep in the north of England were radioactive due to contamination from rain and unfit for Human consumtion some weeks later.
I don't usually discus my medical history but i think this event is too important not to share my fears, i don't know if this will hit Australia or the West coast of America but if your in the way do what you can to protect your selves.

There was an article from the local new outlets here, that the few retail outlets in the Phoenix metro area that had iodine tablets, had sold out all of their product that was available in this area .

No resupply was due for quite some time, at it's usually not a high demand item .

Lou I couldn't agree with you more. My ex was working as a technical publications editor for the Institute For Nuclear Power Operations at the time of Chernobyl. She was editing the report of the events during and after and I got to read one of the first drafts. It still scares the crap out of me.

I too was diagnosed with thyroid cancer and I am convinced I owe mine to the time I spent as a photographer documenting the clean up and entombing of several of the atolls in the Pacific used for nuclear weapons testing. This was 40 years after the testing.

Incidentally, the (2) major suppliers of school/hobbyist electronics equipment, who sell geiger counters and geiger counter kits, have completely sold out all their stock here in the US in this past week, and they don't expect to have any more available for about 2 months..
