Severe storm warning and a cyclone building in the Darwin region.

Bureau of Meteorology forecast track has it heading away from Darwin but we'll cop gales from it, possibly twice as it turns around and comes back south.

Darwin has had 253mm of rain between 9am and midnight. We'll see what 24hour rainfall is tomorrow morning at 9am.

I was driving the car and had to slow down to 50kmh because I couldn't see to drive any faster. For once I was glad I wasn't on the bike.

But there's a fantastic crescendo of green tree frogs singing around the house.

John , from a very wet and soggy North Oz.
