Which Manual, Haynes or Clymer?

Any recommend one manual over the other?

I have a friend's '82 R65LS that is sitting at my home.

Basically, he inherited it, mid restoration.  He's handy with bicycles and keen to learn on motorbikes.

The motorcycle appears to simply need to be re-assembled. Mostly electrics. I love the fact that the tank is dry, and lined (i.e. NO rust).  Previous owner put a fair amount of work into.  Once we have a new battery, I expect it to fire up..

Well, your thoughts on manuals. Thanks!

Get both, you can't have too many motorcycle books.  Neither is perfect by itself and have errors.  However, armed with a Haynes, a Clymer, AND the unredoubtable Hopefully New and Improved but Still Unofficial and Purposely Disorganized R65 Forum, you can fix anything you need to fix on the R65!

Oh, and one other thing.  Even if you move on to another bike(s), don't ever sell the manual(s).  You'll eventually find your way back here.

Personally I like the Clymer much better than the Haynes.  Even so, it is still woefully short on information in many areas.  To be honest, I rarely use it anymore, I just look up what I need to know on the internet.  Several dealers have nice microfiche online (Max is one) so you can see how various components fit together.  You have already found the best resource for your R65 - right here!  Happy wrenching.
