Just another day at the Office
« on: December 10, 2009, 12:13:14 PM »
There i am minding my own working on a customers car wash when he comes out and says can i hurry up as there's a tanker due in.The storage tanks..filling point ....and vent lines are all alongside the Jet wash.
So like a goodun i gets on with it just finishing the job when the tanker pulls in blocked me in the wash bay the driver jumps out to go to the office.
At this point the drive wheel under the tank bursts into flames ....not good with 30,000 litres of 4 star!!..so like Fireman Sam i use the jet wash to douse the flames just as the alarms are going off.The site owner and driver came rushing over just as i got it under control.5 minutes earlier i think i would have been toast.
Just call me "Lucky".

At least it wasnt raining
I gets to ride the cow this weekend.....reward enough, must admit though five minutes earlier i had the pump in bits and no idea where an extinguisher could be found.
Lou
note to self..site orientation check extinguisher positions and escape routes prior to disabling useful equipment better still bog off before tanker gets there.

Good job, Lou!

Isn't there a sign on the side of the truck (lorry) "Fire Extinguisher Inside"?

Were brakes the cause?

So I think this qualifies you for Super Hero Status.

ITCH* has been notified.  Now we just need a name ...hmmmm.

Let see that Postman Pat is already out there.

Fireman Lou?   8-)

Just another typical day for 'Lucky Lou', mild mannered super hero !!!!!!!

Did you have your 'lucky' rubber chicken with you .

I have to ask, what is '4 star', premium grade auto fuel ?

I believe there are extinguishers mounted on both sides of the tank if you have time to go looking for them!! assuming you can see them for the smoke! .The brakes were the cause, the picture is of the driver cooling them down after all the excitement.(apparently they had just been fixed????)
Bob....4 star is premium grade petrol i didnt have my chicken but luckily i had my rubber pants on.
I new all those fire drills in the Navy would come in handy one day,now where are the Lifeboats ??

I hope they reimbursed you for the quarters you had to shove into the machine to keep the pressure washer going!  I know, it's not quarters in England, but what ever.

Good job!

Outstanding effort, LUCKY Lou. I'm sure glad you're still with us... [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

...and please disregard the email I sent to your wife -before getting to the end of this thread- as I had asked her for right-of-first-refusal on the purchase of your lovely R65.

Love ya, man. As the wife said, "He's quite quick."  ;D

Phewfff! That was too close for comfort. I think Super hero pretty well sums it up. Toasty warm is one thing in Canada with the snow falling BUT toasty anything else is simply unacceptable!! Good on you Lou!!!!
1983 R65LS - LRB still my favourite!? 1988 Honda NX250, "Toodles Too" and a Suzuki DR650, "Calypso." All stored in the "Brrrmmm Closet".
