My best swap, as far as motorcycles are concerned, would have to be my old 1971 Montesa King Scorpion enduro that I traded to a guy I worked with for some classic Zuni turquoise jewelry and $200 cash.  I spent the money on a vacation and my former wife got to keep the jewelry.  I sure would like to have that old Spanish bike back but it's probably been melted down into some oilfield pipe by now.

Ahhhh, the memories..... ::)

My very first motorcycle was a 1981 Yamaha 185 Exciter.  It would JUST make the 55mph speed limit on the interstates (dates my ownership, doesn't it?).  When I was ready to move up to my R65 in 1992 I negotiated without saddlebags which I really wanted....so I ended up trading my Yamaha for a complete set of hard bags for my R65.  Not a bad deal...I still see that old Yamaha around here and there....

Aida, I think your best swap was trading the riding lawnmower for not 1, but 2 Chinese Lifan dirt bikes.  :o
That just seemed like a helluva deal to those that've heard the story!

I traded an '81 Yamaha 125 scooter, with a main bearing race torn loose from the crank case, for an accordian.

I realize that's not a good swap, but it's the only one I've ever done.  I gave the accordian away.

As a student my youngest son often used the most obvious transport available - my Jaguar Xj6 with a Chevy V8 engine conversion.

Facing huge fuel bills and the possibility of definate bankrubtsy, I swopped the Jaguar (to the disappointment of my son and his mates)for a Datsun 140 Y GX Coupe.

I am still not sure whether this was my best or worst swop....... still miss the Jaguar.

'so k - i just turned the laptop on it's side...

Best swap...gee - I haven't had one. I did swap a 1959 Austin Lancer for $150 though. It really was pristine - my mum had bought it new in 1960. 'Course I saw only five years after I did the deed that they were fetching $3 500.....  [smiley=Kick.gif] (doh) You live, you learn.

I swapped my VW powered Ural sidecar for a rebuilt sohc CB750...red tank, gold stripe.

I swapped the CB750 ....for a Singer Vogue (Hillman Hunter) of the same year, with a rooted engine and a gearbox that jumped out of 2 gears.

That's as bad as it sounds....but 3 years later the Vague was in a prang.I got payed out $1,000,and kept the car, didn't repair it and sold it for $800.

I'd take either bike again drop of a hat - but I wouldn't have a Hillman Hunter if you payed me....well,twist my arm if you like,I might give in.

Now I remember another one (I have done lots of swaps).

I swapped my road legal 1964 Rickman Metisse, and a 1968 Cheney Triumph (both powered by T100C engines) for a fully rebuilt 1962 Norton 99....600cc with all the SS go gear.

I wanted a bike to do longer distance road rides, and the Rickman was not good at that....the Cheney was not being used.Loved the Norton, and it was one of the best bikes I've ever owned. But man - a Rickman or a Cheney is an untouchable dream.(but I do have a Rickman Petite)

I swapped my R60/5 for a 1951 Bedford house truck.Oh man.........

Well,I'd have to want a wheelbarrow....and I bought a new one last year. But it's sitting outside at the moment....and in this area that means you want to give it away.

I'll get back to you tomorrow maybe.....
