In my youth I read a lot of scifi and one short story comes into mind: "The Marching Morons" by ??

written in the fifties it is a prophecy of the present state of society's cultural habitus where the "great unwashed mobs", as my brother in law used to call them, are kept at bay by braindead comedy shows and "Faxtor X" on television, cheap junk food and cheap electronics.

greetings from a north with clouds

Just remembered a good line from the movie, 'The Hunt For Red October '.

It was in the last few minutes of the movie, where Sean Connery, who portrayed, the Russian submarine commander, made a comment : 'a little revolution every now and again is a good thing', I think we are overdue for a 'little revolution' here in the US.

In "Logan's Run" made in the 1970's when a person reached the ripe old age of 30 they were made to "renew" themselves.  That is to terminate themselves.  Amazing what brainwashing by cultural institutions can do to us.

My issue with immigration is that it's relatively easy for illegals to stay here and fly under the radar, while they clog our schools, our hospitals, and our highways - usually while doing all of this without the benefit of insurance.  Hence our taxes keep going up to pay for the free loaders.

On the other hand, I've known some good people with great credentials who are here on a green card and then forced to return to their country when that card expires.  I guess it's always easier for the bureaucrats to pick the low hanging fruit - those who abide by the law and try to do it right.

Illegal immigrants , are quite the controversial subject with the states that border Mexico.

At least in the TV series/movie called "Logan's Run" from the 70's the rest of the population wasn't eating recycled people, as in Soylent Green - still one of my all time favorite classic sci-fi movies.

I don't know, it is a pretty wacky world we find ourselves in, but it is better than the alternative, I think.

I'm remembering Logan's Run.  The folks went into the chambers and came out as food for everyone else....
