Lou, if GB is anything like the US then politicians don't feel the laws they pass apply to them and that makes the lawyers (or shysters) are safe because most all politicians are lawyers.  Bankers?  Who knows, but banker rhymes with wanker!  [smiley=ROTFLMAO.gif]

Oh oh,

Justin is starting to sound like a "closet" Britisher... next he'll start drinking his Lone Stars at room temperature..
 ;)

On another note - I noticed a plasma cutter based CNC type machine that Justin could use in his garage alongside his other metalworking machines:

And the problem with drinking beer at room temps is....??????  OK OK OK it has to be decent beer.  And the room can't be any warmer than 70F.     [smiley=1drink.gif]

I understand what your going on about Lou.  Spend a lot of time listening to the BBC, and after the important news, like cricket scores and who's going to be coaching the soccer team from Chelsea, they get to the run of the mill stuff.  Unbelievable.  Are they taking lessons from the crooks over here???

It sounds like evidence of our world economy.

Anybody that thinks that the depression we are commencing will be limited to the U.S. (like last time? no, Europe was affected too, I believe) is kidding themselves.  We are in for a major upheaval that will bring our collective economys to their knees.

I know what you're saying - but it is not quite as bad as that African leader (sorry - must have old timers disease - I can't remember the name OR the country - sheesh am I embarrassed? :-[...Danie where are you?) who was recently re-elected and changed the laws so that he could not be prosecuted on various counts of corruption whilst still in office?

Or the Aussie Judge who gave 6 months to a hit and run driver who killed a cyclist when DUI?

Or how about that Aussie politician who is Prime Minister?  ;D

There is a class system and depending on what class your in determines what you can get away with. Equality, baah. Thar's a class for CEOs, investors, politicians and working people and on down.
As for beer, I want little flakes of ice in mine, especially when imbibing here in the desert in July! [smiley=1drink.gif]

Correct Aussie - that clown should have been in jail long ago - for obvious crimes against umanity. The outside world seems to be very tolerant though........

Well, the question in the heading of this thread is very relevant in SA, and I suppose I became a bit of a "rebel" as well - I have joined the biggest local opposition party in our country as a volunteer - and for the next two months I hope to make a local 2c contribution as well..........so untill date of our upcoming election (22 April), I will spend less time on this forum.

Also Prime minister of Italy Berlusconi also Italys richest man, is protected by a similar law. The plan being by the time his premiership ends the 3 year limit for prosecutions on his (alleged) crime will have expired. A similar law has existed quite some time in France and protected their pm. David Mills, the husband of our Tessa Jowell, British minister for, the olympics and 'goodness knows what else' was sentenced to about 4 years (which he is unlikey to serve) for accepting about £3 million in bribes to withhold evidence that would incriminate italys pm Berlusconi. Incredibly, Jowell claimed that when her hubby paid off the huge mortgage for their house she really didn't question for a moment where the money came from.
It would seem, our  British home secretary, Jaqui Smith, guardian of law and order has been collecting living allowances that 'could be questionable' ie she claims the spare bedroom in her sisters apartment in London (where Jaqui stays 2 or 3 of days week, during parliament) is her main residence and the large country house in which her husband and children live is a secondary residence, for which she claims, 'living away from home' allowances  (tax payers money). This is remarkably like the sort of deception her department locks up common, dodgy, benefits claimants in jail for. I am disgusted, but not surprised. Just everyday relevations in current european governments, I'm afraid.

larstorders, I'm afraid as well as the liberals in this country really feel that we need to be more like "european" countries.  I coulda swore that possibility was why there was a fairly nasty war over here many moons ago...

Oh crap.

Am I really, really embarassed? I was not on the correct continent even, larst. It was Silvio Berlusconi that I was trying to think of.  ;D Boy oh boy - I really do have 'old timers'......

Though - in my defence - I think that there is a similar case in one of the African countries.
