Ever been asked to...............
« on: February 12, 2009, 05:08:16 PM »
Rob a train!!!!! yes please
my other passion in life apart from the wife.(well a man must eat) is the wild west and as part of the lonestar reenactment society ( it means we legaly get to play with guns a big deal in the UK)
if you venture on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway this spring bank holiday you may find me "robbing" one of the steam loco,s 2 a day for three days the attacks take place at Levistone station so any bikers up at Helmsley(a favourite haunt for bikers near by)mignt want to have a laugh on there way to the pub at beck hole or Whitby there will be a full cowboy camp at the station.
http://www.thelonestar.co.uk/ click to enter the site then members im in Company "D" Texas rangers
has anyone else been asked to do anything to fulfill a childhood dream?
Lou
ps i dont take prisoners, scroll down the image you will see why.ps cracked this photo thinggy

Way cool, Lou! What's your Cowboy Way name?

I'm sure you've heard of SASS, the Single Action Shooting Society. You have to dress in period-correct cowboy rigging.

Competitions involve live fire with single action revolvers, lever action rifles and scatter guns. The range is usually composed of sets resembling swinging door saloons, banks, dry good stores, etc.

The buy-in costs for weaponry and ammo -ball ammo only to help prevent ricochets- make R65 ownership and maintenance look cheap.

Big fun fer sure, pardner!

I had no idea that Brits liked to play Wild West!  What a hoot!

I was trying to come up with a mirror image.

Yes, Renaissance Festivals are more than popular over here!   ::)

Lou, I knew a guy named Lucky once but he only had four fingers on one hand and was missing an eye and half his teeth.  Can't imagine where he got the nickname, but he was a bull rider once.  That's a pretty fun gig you have going on there.  If you ever get to Texas we can show you some of the sights.

That is just SO cool!!!!

The spouse is big into "Old West" weaponry.  Have a bunch of black powder stuff, and he has the complete mountain man style buckskin clothes.  We have several 'modern' firearms, and a couple of the replica Blackhawks, etc.  One of my favorites is a replica LeMat.  Have yet to take it out in the backyard and kill some soda cans.

Guess what its..........Lucky Lou (Lucky "Lou" Diamond)
the western scene is pretty strong in the uk but not as many do the reenacting the ones that do are very enthusiastic. Gun laws in the UK are so tight a lot of "westerners dont even bother with guns" we do loads of fast draw events SaSS sort of thing im running one at the Pickering Easter festival.
Generaly the guns for fastdraw are not as impressive as the ones for reenacting fastdraw and tend to use short or cut down weapons however technicaly you have to be in a recognised reenacting society to buy a blank firer
with a firearms cert we can own any rifles/shotguns but pistols have to be pre 1873 or converted to percussion cap
we use black powder for events and historicaly correct pistols and rifles my personal favourites are my remmington new army pistol . Henry rifle and Sharps 45/90 what a weapon that is!!.
it is expensive to set up ive vowed not to buy anymore guns till ive got the 65 sorted
