1986 rear shock, or should I say sticker shock?

My rear shock's leaking & due to be replaced, I see prices from 400-600. dollars for  a stock replacement.
Does anyone know of a reasonably priced replacement? Short of buying one that's used. I can't see how that shock is worth a quarter of what they are asking for. This is crazy! :-/

Visit some of the bigger BMW dealer websites and see what they have to offer in aftermarket shocks. Yep, they be expensive. Save your money and don't buy used shocks. Would yoiu pay good bucks for your current absorbers? Doubtful.

Also, Maybe start a new thread and ask what other R65ers are riding on. Get some straight answers before you mortgage a kidney.

Hagon makes excellent shocks for BMWs, although they're not cheap either.
Looks like Monoshock prices begin at $441, but for a much better shock than OEM BMW.

Ikon, http://www.ikonsuspension.com/ , also makes some excellent shocks, although I couldn't find any prices on their website.
No doubt that info could be had thru one of the larger retailers.

I have a Works with remote reservoir on my mono, great shock/spring system...  Oh, I don't know if there is such a thing as a "cheap" monoshock!
