New Member Hello
« on: March 27, 2017, 02:29:04 PM »
Hi Folks,
I'm a new member here, just joined today. I have a '79 R65. I'm getting around to making updates to it, like rebuilding the carbs, having the speedo/odo fixed and updating the brake lines.

I'm looking forward to being part of the forum.

Mike

Welcome to the asylum Mike. Feel free to ask anything. There are people on this forum that probably know more about these bikes than the folks at BMW. AND they are willing to share the information.
Keep your bike in good repair: motorcycle boots are not comfortable for walking.

Welcome. And ditto to what Marcmax said - lots of info and helpful folks here. And one of the few forums I've been on where people are more interested in actually helping and answering questions than in arguing or trying to throw their own opinions around.

Welcome, I just joined up a month ago when I got my own 79 R65. A lot of stuff had been done to mine already. Just have to adjust the carbs pretty soon but doing ok. Been riding the devil out of it. Have fun putting in new points ! What a pain. It was a lot easier way back on my 1964 Chevy. I really love the old time feel and ride of the R65. It's like I'm back in 1975 on my Suzuki T500. I also have a Goldwing F6b. Anyway welcome. :)

I bought my '79 R65 a couple of years ago.  Very nice and fun bike to ride.  What I wanted to add however is that there is a R65 registration site.  Don't have the address available right now, but I found my bike on it and it had a lot of useful information about my bike, so you might want to do a search to see if yours is on that site.

Should be able to find it by Googling R65 registration.
