40th Karuah River Rally
« on: January 17, 2017, 02:36:32 AM »
Howdee Gang! The BMW Touring Club of NSW is hosting it's 40th Karuah River Rally on the 10th to the 12th of February. I'm just wondering if there are any fellow "Stralians" here thinking about going this year.

A $25 entry fee covers a badge and breakfast voucher.

I went last year and I was a bit disappointed that I had one of the few air heads at the rally; certainly the only R65 in the park.

It seems that most of the participants leave their BMWs at home (assuming that they actually have one) and tend to bring their KTMs instead. I only met 4 guys who actually knew what a boxer is; 3 old blokes and a Queenslander from this forum.

"Does anyone know where the air head camp is?"

"There he is..........over there".  ;D

The Queenslander speaking here.

As the predicted temperatures were in the region of 46 & 47 degrees Celsius, I was a late withdrawal.  As it was the local Forestry Department closed the road in and it was held at the Dungog showgrounds.  An extreme fire danger as the temps were apparently the highest on record.

I went for a local ride up here and the temps were around 38 & 39 degrees C and that was bad enough.

Hopefully next year.

46 C, that's a ' warm spring ' day here !!! ;)

No, but seriously, that's the level of heat that will kill you, let alone camp outside in it !!!

You don't want to be camping and have a major fire overrun your campsite, had that happen 40 years ago .

I'll give up my R65, when they pry my cold dead hands from the handlebars !!!!!
