Way too much time on my hands
« on: March 14, 2016, 05:46:18 PM »
Well slap me.

Having just posted a welcome to Henry, our newest forum member from Barbados, I was surprised to see that my post count had hit 8000. Jeez, Louise! What's up with that.

Since hooking up with this mob in April of 2008, I've made many forum friends. Several I have met in person. Others, not yet. I appreciate the kindly manner of those among us posting and answering with seldom hearing a discouraging word; something quite different than seen and read on other BMW forums and Facebook sites. I also much enjoy the humorous repartee that frequently brightens my time on the forum.

Thanks to all for eight years of good times.  [smiley=beer.gif] Salud & Cheers

Montmil and Wilcom I could not agree more.

I mostly withdrew from BMW forums in the days of Fidonet, I have occasionally (briefly) re-appeared and it has always been the unchecked egos that have driven me away.

Then I became the owner of an R65 and discovered to my pleasure that the least loved BMW model (once entirely inaccurately decried in BMOA as "the worst BMW ever made") had it's own "support group" and that the native are friendly.

As a result I am now involved, long term,  in my first Motorcycle forum for nearly 25 years.

BTW, the worst BMW ever made was the R25 in ANY of its guises - don't believe me? I suggest you ride one a few hundred miles.

I haven't had chance trying on a R25 yet, but I have many experience on the R26s and R27s. 3 are on the road, 1 is in the living room and 2 are in the in boxes.

I enjoy riding them in the back road, but I have to plan my route carefully to avoid highway. I have heard people cross country with those R26, R27 back to the days, but what they had on the road were bicycles and horses.

I always have to change my mind set when I ride them. Everything just like watching a snow motion movie.
