The R65 is back together again tonight and pending a test ride tomorrow has achieved operational status.

The throwout bearing was just fine although I did replace the seal on the thrust piece. I have the radial roller bearings on my 1980. They were not scored and turned just fine. Lubed with a few drops of gear oil (thanks guys).
The source of the shifting chirp appears to be where the clutch rod pushes against the pressure ring in the clutch. In my zeal to not contaminate my new clutch, I failed to put "one drop" of Honda Moly on the tip of the clutch rod. It was rusted where metal met metal without lubrication. A re-read of Snowbum's article on lubricating clutch splines revealed my error.
Time to move the next project into the shed.
Oh and I met a new R65 person who lives about 4 miles from my house - John Jones. He bought a 1984 R65 that was sitting on a porch for SIX years. He is in the middle of refreshing it right now. I met him through the Georgia BMW owners group (BMWMOGA) but I sent him an e-mail with this site's address and I suspect he is probably lurking here somewheres.
Time to do some riding again!
