Inactive Member Deletion
« on: September 04, 2013, 03:32:10 PM »
I 'cull' the herd here of inactive members .

Here's the method I use to determine the inactivity of a member on this site .

180 days from when you open your account / profile here, if you havn't made a posting, you're deleted .

If you have made 1-5 postings, if you let 600 days go by without logging in, you're deleted .

6 or more postings, if you let 730 days go by with logging in, you're deleted .

When I started doing this about 15 months ago, I sent out hundreds of emails notifying members that they wouild be deleted if they didn't log in within 30 days .

A fair amount of the emails came back as undeliverable, not one response from any member and only one member made a posting to keep their profile / account active .

I don't send out any emails anymore .

So there is the method I use .

Go for it.
I'm always getting automated emails from the Kaw. 250 Ninja (?) forum that I signed up for while investigating them.
I would rather they delete me from their roster.

I've been away for a while after IT issues, but hopefully that's all behind me now!

That's pretty funny, Dave.

I recall attending a property owners meeting some years ago where we were discussing the over-abundant population of deer in our area. The lack of adequate forage was creating health problems among the deer. The decision to hire a hunter to harvest several deer to thin the herd was made and a few additional questions from people were answered.

City Lady: "Excuse me, but does harvest mean kill?"

Moderator: "Yes ma'am, it does."

City lady: "OMG! Are you going to kill the Bambies?"

True story. The laughter was so loud I never did hear any other replies.

Also, though I'm sorta trying to get him to change his mind about selling it, a member here "williamemack" is thinking of selling his - you might send him a pm or email.

What I do find odd about this forum is that it's one of the very few that allows you to delete yourself as a user..

A feature more forums should have..

thanks nhmaf.  I might not be realistic, but I think that's about 1k off.  I so love a black bike. Blue is cool too. And Red works.

I miss my 1983 r65.  I bought a new bike that is comparable with our times.  It handles the modern highways, but I don't have the same affection for it as I did with the r65.  I can't imagine I will like it nearly as much when it become 30 years old.

Please don't delete me.

I think both work, as they sound like a metal worker/fabricator.  Shear, Hammer, and Roll...

Good names! Keep me alive even though it's been awhile. Right now Derek and I have a sewer blockage here at home and we're trying to keep our heads above water so to speak or at least stay outta ^&%t here so I don't have time to be online too much. Miss my buds!!

Cheers,
Stinky

Going to try trenchless pipe repair technology. My beautiful garden pond is dead-in-line with the sewer pipes running 70 feet out the back of the house!!!
