Incredible luck
« on: October 29, 2012, 10:02:32 PM »
Good or bad, not sure, but it ended well. My buddy and I warmed up the bike to change the oil, we left it running in the driveway and went in to get a cup of coffee. When we came out, well, where was the bike? We looked and the bike and side car were rolling down the hill, curved around a walnut tree, and headed for my pond! We ran after it, but it had a 50 yard head start and was gaining speed. My pond is almost 100 feet wide, my dock is 3' wide. What are the chances, the front wheel of the bike rolled straight into the dock, and bounced back a little, and stopped. Incredible freak luck, even if the side car hit, it might have stopped, but there would have been damage.I don't even want to think about what would have happened if it hit the water running. Didn't think to take a pic til after, but you can clearly see the tire tracks in the grass in the pics.

Body and seat mounted, my cousin in Florida is making me a new seat cover, I sent him the old one for a pattern. All that is left is to install the lights and wire them.

Ahh, damn, I lost/deleted the pics. Well, it's a good story, anyway.

Eurika! Wrong camera, I have the pics

When I first moved into my current home in November, '94, I parked my Honda CRX in the garage the first day there, I have a manual transmission, so I left it in neutral and left the overhead door open .

Came back out 15 minutes later and my car was across the street part way in the neighbors front yard !!!!!!!!!!! :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o

What I didn't realize, is that there is a drainage grade in the garage floor, about 3 inches (75mm) difference from the back wall of the garage and the front, plus, there is about a 12 inch (50mm) grade difference from the garage door, to the street .

All of the garages that I Had parked in before, were flat, no drainage grade in the floor .

I learned real fast, to leave all of the vehicles in first gear !!!!

I've tried to find a pic of what we call a 'back yard', but no luck.
I'll be popping out tomorrow so will stop somewhere to get a pic.

However that is certainly a garden!

sometimes it is very, very good to be lucky!  Perhaps you should buy a lottery ticket now just in case you still have a bit left in your system!

LOL, I am very lucky at the lottery, too, I don't play much, but we have a Keno type game in the bars, I've hit for $600 on a $2 bet 3 times now. My friend has a sign in his bar that states the establishment is in the top 10% for winners, he claims it's strictly because of me.

Pretty familiar with British English, been there many times to visit my cousins.

You can explain to Monte what a Fortnight is then.... when i used the term when last in Texas folk thought i was talking ga ga...
It was a stroke of luck when the jetty stoped the bike, if it were mine the bike would probebly have rolled onto it then into the pond..... hence the name "Lucky" Lou cause all my luck is usualy bad luck  [smiley=nopity.gif]

That's a good one Lou - not something I had thought of as being in such restricted use.  Apparently there is no precise American equivalent so they won't find it in an American dictionary.

The Neiman-Marcus store in downtown Dallas used to stage a Christmas extravaganza that lasted a fortnight.

I always thought they used that "word" just so they could charge even more for their items... for a couple weeks.  [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

Lou, are you talkin' Lady Ga Ga?
