Not a farewell - but a time out for a while

Now then

This year the Wife & I have taken some pretty hard blows, our daughter died in January, I created a Charity centre for kids, dedicated to mine which really knocked me on my arse (surprised it did as work kept my mind off things), and to top it off last week we miscarried at 12 weeks.

I'm gonna take some time off bikes, spend time with Sarah and clear our heads.
Plus fancy rebuilding a series land rover, which keeps me nearer to home.

Just a nod to say thanks to you all, it's a fantastic forum, great bikes, and the knowledge between you all helped the BMW build.

I'll be back one day, the BMW is going into storage for a year but i'll finish it, though will be needing your help!!!

All the best lads,

Elliott

Sorry for your loss.

Nothing we can say will undo what has happened.  I do hope, however, that things will start to work out for you both.

Good luck.

Now then

Cheers for the support lads.
I think we're at the stage of coping with things, but i find myself looking for a way to kick start (scuse the pun) my motivation, work keeps me going because we have to but on a night/weekend i'm lost (it's 12noon on Sunday & i'm @ work!)

I'm wanting to try submerge myself into a sport again (used to race MTB's in europe) as it's a great motivator but nothing takes my fancy, been climbing, swimming - did 1k in 20mins - enduro racing - boxing nothing gives me joy at the moment!

I'll find something that does eventually, tempted to start touring on the bike & seeing the country - with work i'll only get weekends or odd days but its a start i guess!

Sorry for off loading on you lads, but truth be told, this is the only place i feel comfortable to do it, it's hard talking to the wife when i'm low it just drags her down further so i try not to show her what i'm going through most of the time

It's hard putting on a smile all the time

Appreciate your time

Elliott

Elliott,

Firstly - thanks for sharing and being open - a very healthy thing to do!

I'm sorry for your losses - life sure has a way of knocking us down like a big ocean wave.  The key is to keep getting up!

My wife and I tried having our own kids and after several ectopic pregnancies that nearly killed her (she had to be hospitalized 3 times) we adopted two boys - first one in 1990 and second in 1993.  So, I know what you're going through - unfortunately for me my release should have been riding but instead it was drinking and that really further exacerbated the pain I was in.

I encourage you to stay active maybe not store your bike and just have it handy for when you need to clear your head.  Hopefully things will line up to start a family!  I know for me, the m/c really provides a great way to let off steam.

Please keep checking in as you've always provided great input!

Chin up!

Ken

Elliot, I am in no position of expertise to offer you any counsel. But I have time and desire to hear you. These events seem to be sent to try us. Why, I have no idea but getting it off your chest and unloading ever so little to anyone with compassion must be some help. Please let us be your soft place to land in these troubled times for you. Motorcycles may be our game but, as you can see, the gentle understanding of our members here can possibly be of some help  to you. Please keep us handy!!! We have broad shoulders and I imagine enough members and, of an age, that someone here must have "been there" in some capacity, and may have some timely words to offer.

Nice words Sue; and Elliott, Sue echoes what we all feel for you.

It's always difficult to say the right things and often it's best just to listen and be there for somebody when they want to talk.

So, you know where we are :)

All the very best.

Chris

Thanks for the replies, i'm not too sure what to say really!

i'll keep intouch with you all, decided to strip the bike and start the rebuild, it'll give me something to focus on.
Plus joined the gym and starting swim training for a 2 mile event!

All the best

Hello

How are you all?

We're faring up ok, at the time of my last post the wife was 6 weeks pregnant, but i guess i didn't want it to 'sink' in until we were further in.
However it wasn't to be, the wife miscarried in the 7th week - our way of looking at it is it was most probably her body cleaning out anything it needed to so hasn't affected us too much really, which we feel bad for but it's so different to when we lost Pip, it really falls into insignificance to us...........sounds bad i know!

Still feeling flat, it's a weird feeling hard to describe really, but a bastard to shake.
not taking any meds, i'm not accepting depression is what we're going through, we are grieving & it's so temperamental. You have highs and enjoy yourself then 5 mins later you're in tears!

I met my Dad at Squires (a bike cafe), had a great ride, i went on the 950SE a very powerful bike and such fun but after meeting dad & queuing for a tea (all in the space of 10mins) i was in tears and low for the rest of the day, it'll get you either way!

i could keep babbling on and on, probably won't make much sense though, thanks for allowing me to post on here i really do appreciate the ears.

Please don't expect this to be horrid or if you'll feel uncomfortable i won't be offended if you say no, but would you like to see a picture of Pip, we have 400+.
A lot think it'll be wired but she looked perfectly normal.
I only ask as she is the main topic really and thought i'd introduce her!!!

All the very best

Night
