Not as far off as you might imagine when we're discussing open cockpit aircraft!
My self-built Pietenpol was originally designed in 1929. I built the 1932 version with individual wings as 30 foot-long aircraft-grade Spruce spars just "don't grow any more."
Open cockpit. Tucked in behind a small windscreen. Low enough to smell cut grass, plowed soil, or cows... [smiley=cowsleep.gif] My leather helmet, silk scarf and RAF goggles are right at home airborne, or on board your R65LS

BTW, at last October's North Texas Norton Owners Rally, while riding my R65 in the Rolling Concours, a 20 mile road tour open to street legal 30+ year-old bikes, I wore the above gear. Folks seemed to like it.
