Newcomer in town!!

Hello all, just wanted to introduce myself as I'm a new member on the forum, (although I've been eavesdropping for a while!!)

My name's Gordon Wilkinson & I live in the north of England.  I ride a BMW R65 in black, an '82 model in bog standard condition, open to improvements though. Has an oil burning problem which I'll bring up in the tec forum soon.

I've only ever had Japanese bikes in the past, still have a few, but finally saw the light & thought I'd give the BM a chance & I have to say, I love the way they ride!

I've been really impressed with what I've seen on the forum, you all seem a very knowledgeable bunch & very willing to share expertise/experience.

Hopefully, I'll be able to learn a lot from you all & maybe even contribute to the forum myself.

I tried to put a pin in my location, but I'm not that clever yet! Until I suss it out, I'm at High Warden, near Hexham in Northumberland, gateway to some of the best biking roads in the North of England.

Back from photo shoot!

The 'fully dressed' version is how the bike looked when I bought it.

I've since sold most of the touring kit except for the panniers, they might come in handy one day.

The naked version is how the bike is now.  I plan a winter tidy up & to change one or two things.  First to go will be the high bars.

There are quite a few members up North now.

Just a tip on posting the photos.  With all cameras these days being a Trillion megapixels and rising, photos need to be re-sized down to a maximum of say 800 x 600 pixels to display to best effect.

Lots of free programs around that will do that for you or if you have a later version of  Microsoft Office that can do it.

Welcome Gordon....oh YAY!....another member in the north of England! I would love to ride there! Have driven all around there on 4 wheels before but to be on a bike...priceless experience. Hmmm...see that it was raining.....project one may be to replace the metal sparkplug caps. Hope to hear from you in the tech section soon!

Sue, yes you're right about the old style metal plug caps. Haven't had any problems with these ones (yet), but have in the past had them on Japanes bikes & been zapped by what felt like 20,000,000 volts when stupid enough to wiggle them in the rain while checking for a misfire!!

If your computer has Windows 7 it should have Windows Live Photo Gallery built in, this has a resize function which will make your pix sendable. On my Hewlett Packard it did not appear on the dock automatically, I had to search around a bit to find it.
