Freakin' spammers are back, it seems...

Well, we have had a pretty good run of peace and quiet but it appears that, just like jock-itch and athlete's foot, the cretins have found a way in.

Starting as of a couple minutes ago I turned on the option to suspend the "friendly" e-mail registration scheme and now all new users will have to be "approved" by an admin.  I have been whacking about 15-20 obviously bogus users a day but it seems if I miss a day they get into mischief...

I've been doing this from the start with the Vintage club's forum, and also the slash2 email list I run on Yahoo Groups.  I've also got a variety of spam blockers set up on the Vintage forum.  Still, one gets through every now and again.  It's hard to imagine how it is worthwhile to pay someone to register on forums in order to post spam...

A lot of the user names are obviously Chinese in origin so you can form some conclusions and visuals...
