Welcome aboard, Rod.

Looks as if you've got a monoshocker R65LS, sans fairing, and the higher American-market bars. Nice bags and is that a small aft rack?

Nothing too difficult to tweak or repair on these tractors. Get a manual or two and ask any questions. The R65s are a real hoot.

Where do you hail from?

Monte:  I'm in the Columbia, Missouri area.  Yes, mono-shock and aft rack.  I just jumped in.  One I scanned for bikes to buy, found this on Craigslist, checked it out, asked around, bought it on impluse.  Love it.  (and, extremely fortunately, so does my wife). I had small hondas when little.  Had a '60 HD Sportser in my teens.  Then some HDs.  Built an old AMF SuperGlide from frame paint up (with plenty of good help), had an '89 Softtail, went back to school, etc.  Now I'm back.
Since the photo I put a windshield (plexifairing) on it.  Love that too.  I went for the factory service/repair manual, too.  Right now the drive shaft boot (bellows?) right behind the tranny needs replacing.  Everything else, though, is a go and I'm riding almost daily.  Thanks for the reply.

Welcome aboard!

Nice R65 monolever you have there!  There weren't many of those imported into the US, so you do have a rather rare, or at least uncommon, bike.

The BMWMOA rally is in Missouri next year, maybe we'll just plant the seed of an idea that you should consider going!

Thanks, but you don't need to plant the idea.  I've already scheduled the time to go to the rally.  Looking forward to it.

Yes, my wife took that photo, and it's currently the only one I have.  I am computer traumatized and am only learning how to manipulate these machines/photos.  Apparently she still likes me at least as much as the bike.  But, she seems to like the bike a lot.  Seems to think I should ride it a lot.  ????

Thanks, I figured out how to do it, but after I'd already posted that photo.  I removed the post cuz the one I posted was obnoxious.  Offending photo gone.
